In order to realize the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, the Mathematics Study Program Lecturer Team, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tanjungpura University held a community service (PKM) at Singkawang 1 State High School with the theme "Increasing Understanding of Basic Mathematical Concepts for Students Through Educational Games" chaired by Dr. Yundari, M.Sc. involving 10 Mathematics PS lecturers, 2 Mathematics PS students, 1 teaching staff and attended by 170 Singkawang 1 Public High School students on Thursday (6/6).
The PKM activity was opened by Mr Marsekot, M.Pd, Principal of SMA Negeri 1 Singkawang. "Through this PKM activity, we hope that students will not only be enthusiastic about today's event but can also motivate students to better understand and enjoy mathematics lessons," he said in his opening remarks.
PKM activities are divided into two activities, namely educational seminars and teaching aid exhibitions. Educational seminar presented by Dr. Nilamsari Kusumastuti. He introduced the fun of learning mathematics without having to think or calculate specifically. In the presentation of the material, several games are also introduced that are connected to the concepts of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and statistics.
Nadila Nur Aulia, one of the participants from class XI Science 1 was very enthusiastic about taking part in the activity. “I liked the way the speaker explained mathematics in the form of games that we face in everyday life. "Hopefully what happened today can be useful in the future," he said.
In the second activity, there was an exhibition of mathematics teaching aids. Guided by the PKM PS Mathematics TEAM, the teaching aids provided can be tried directly by participants to help solve mathematical problems. All of these educational games were participated in very enthusiastically by the participants. Apart from that, participants can also take photos together at the PS Mathematics photobooth which has been provided at the location.
